Jacoby!

In case you missed it, here's Jacoby Ellsbury stealing home last night against the Yankees:

For those of you who don't know of Jacoby, he hails from the Pacific Northwest (Madras, OR), played college ball at Oregon State, and is the only Native-American major league baseball player. As you can tell, he can be electrifying...

Great play-- he really had an amazing jump on Pettite-- Sox sweep Yanks with all come-from-behind wins. Not a bad weekend.

Not bad at all! While the Sox shellacked their bullpen a la Sherman's March to the Sea, two call-ups from Pawtucket shut the Yanks down last night. It's early in the season, but life is sweet right now.

Jacoby was 3/4's of the way down the line before Pettite figured out what was happening.

Any time the Sox sweep a series with the Yankees is a good day indeed! Derek Jeeter is still eating his words from when the Sox came from behind in the AL playoff series and beat the Yankees for the AL pennant. He said "The best team didn't win this series." Yup, he's still munching on 'em!

That's sour grapes if there was. That was only the most colossal choke in the history of sports. He should have had his tail between his legs on his way to hibernation.

Shoot, I missed the game and the video -- Looks like YouTube had to yank it.

I heard Jim Rome dogging Pettit for being out to lunch saying it wasn't Big Papi on base you know the guy can run a little, you might at least want to take a quick look over there... I didn't get what he was talking about but now it all comes together. Great video.

In defense of Pettite, hindsight is 20-20. It was the first straight steal of home for the Sox in 15 years. Joe Morgan seemed to think that Posada was as much to blame as Pettite because with a left-handed batter up he should have seen Ellsbury coming.

Me, I think it was karma for putting the shift on with a fast runner on third.
