Looks like Bart Stupak has decided to vote "aye" on health care reform. If so, this pretty much seals the deal, with House Democrats increasingly confident that they have the votes to pass the bill...

Read this fascinating backgrounder from the New York Times about how the Democratic leadership rallied from from Scott Brown's upset victory in Massachusetts to put the party on the brink of passing its most far-ranging social legislation since the mid-60s. Nancy Pelosi comes across especially well, most notably when she dismisses a panicked Rahm Emmanuel's argument for piecemeal bills as "kiddie care"...

A buoyant President Obama addressed Congressional Democrats yesterday. He's at his best...

Nihil Obstat writes that, in the wake of yesterday's teabagger slurs and threats aimed at John Lewis and Barney Frank, it's time to treat these "people" for what they are:
Terry, Nichols, Eric Rudolph and Timothy McVeigh's direct descendants : domestic terrorists who need the FBI up their asses the way Cheney was up Bush's
Distributor Cap doesn't like the health care bill but supports it anyway...

Well, yer'most welcome, K!
I am endlessly fascinated with Slave Sales, after reading my first account in the book "Providence" by Will Campbell.
As you may or not know, I grew up the son of Southern Planters and Land Dealers. As I read that book, Providence, I had to face it. Anyway, past that we need to discuss over drinks, preferably Bourbon.
Soooo... I used to think often sitting upon the Moon Walk by the river in New Orleans, just how many human beings they off-loaded right here and just down the street at Gov. Nichols wharf by the end of the French Market.
And btw, the figure in that photo with the umbrella is a Black Man, who was usually sent to retrieve the Bought Slave, as the Owner would never mess with actually handling the chattel. So that fellow with the umbrella is the Slave Boss, but probably Not a Free Person of Color.
I have already considered Rape and Racism as 2 Fangs of the Beast Vampire Thingy.
But anyway... there is a new book out about Abraham Lincoln as a Vampire Slayer... yeah, that's what I'm talkin'bout.
2 Fangs. Rape and Racism.
Slavery is the feeding.
Grrrrr....
And they're fucking Hustling the Indians over Super Sunday... but the Indians always reschedule the parades anyway, but they are really fucking with the Indians in New Orleans! Come On!
I'm just still wrapped up in letting go without forgetting.

So I just went and got me a 12 Pack of Fat Tire and made some of the badness'assest BBQ Spaghetti...

Love your cartoon selections. Ben Sargent's on "Texas' School Children" is priceless. Grrrr, looks like we'll be stuck with Perry another 4 years unless we Dems can get out the vote for White.
An article in yesterday's Austin American Statesman was on Sex Education in Texas schools... it ain't mandatory & can be decided school district by school district. Just another dumb aspect of the conservative influence on education in Texas.

Great collection of comics. I almost spit my morning tea all over my computer monitor early this morning when I first read today's Doonesbury. And the idea of the GOP opting for Chicken Little as the new party mascot has a certain poetic ring to it. Heh, heh!

Boehner and crew keep talking about speaking for the American people by defeating the health care reform bill, but most Americans I've been hearing are shouting, loudly, "PASS IT NOW!" So what Americans exactly is he talking about? The truth of the matter is they just want to kill the legislation, and all this talk about attacking the problem piece by piece is just BS; if they succeed in killing the bill, they'll keep on killing any discussion afterward. But then we already know that whole crew are pathological liars anyhow.

I never knew that about Harry Truman. I thought the country gave former Presidents a pension; I guess I was mistaken.
