Two Songs About Rivers

If there's a better American song than this one, I'd like to hear it. Here's a Brit performing an aching rendition. Away, I must away:

Kris Kristofferson looks like singing "i'm gonna sit right here until I die" with Johnny Cash fulfills a bucket wish list. It tore me up every time I heard her drawl that southern drawl:

Ahhhhh! Now that's a good way to start my morning! Did Kris and Johnny have enough guitarists up on the stage? Heh, heh.

Intermittent thaws have started ice breaking-up in northern New England. Some towns along the Connecticut have already flooded. The other day, melting ice clogged drains built to prevent a cemetery from sliding down a hillside onto roads and backyards. Several elderly homeowners had to be rescued from the resulting mudslide that reached their first-floor windows. They're predicting rain and snow for the next five days. We just hope the rain comes slowly, so rivers have a chance to absorb and empty between storms. We still have a foot of snow on the ground and further north, they have two to four. That's a lot of new river...

Paula, why should I have to pay to rescue elders who made a choice to live where there might be a mudslide every hundred years or so? They chose to live there, so they should get themselves out. Otherwise, we'll just encourage them to live near mud. And they'll keep being parasites sucking up taxpayer money and making the deficit go up. This is truth, but the racist libtards won't admit it.

Roy, is there a such thing as too many guitars? No need to answer that one!

i have never been able to make up my mind as to which folk song I like the most, Shenandoah or Red River Valley. Both are lovely and poignant.
