Change looks like this:
- Executive orders to close the Guantanamo detention camp, to close all remaining CIA secret prisons and ensure lawful interrogations (emphasis mine);
- Establishment of an interagency task force on detainee disposition, specifically "to identify lawful options for the disposition of individuals captured or apprehended in connection with armed conflicts and counterterrorism operations;"
- Instructions to the military to plan a "responsible military drawdown from Iraq;"
- Immediately engaging with leaders in the Middle East;
- An executive order revoking the power of former presidents to prevent disclosure of records on the grounds of executive privilege;
- An executive order that, among other things, bars persons leaving the Administration from lobbying the executive branch for the duration of Obama's time in office: "These are the toughest and most far-reaching revolving-door provisions ever adopted," said Fred Wertheimer, president of Democracy 21, which advocates for openness in government...";
- Directives to ensure a more open government: "Melanie Sloan, executive director of the liberal-leaning watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, said Obama's decision to issue the directive 'signals that transparency is more than a campaign promise.'"
