Weekly Address: "We will prove equal to this task"

The Republicans haven't posted their response (from Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal) yet, so here's a link to last week's tepid effort by new RNC chairman Michael Steele...

Parades and more parades by the Krewe of Ponchartrain, the Mystic Krewe of Shangri-La, the Knights of Sparta, the Krewe of Pegasus, the Krewe of Caesar, the Krewe of Choctaw, the Mystic Knights of Adonis, Push Mow (Abita Springs), the Mystic Krewe of Olympia (Covington), the Krewe of Tee Caillou (Chauvin), and the Krewe of Aquarius (Houma)...

As if provoking a constitutional crisis over nothing weren't enough, puritanical zealot Ken Starr is now spearheading an effort to forcibly divorce over 18,000 legally married Californians. Read more about the efforts of a man whose politics are to the right of the Salem witch trial judges and how to stop him here...

Heh, heh! I guess the action's really getting going down there in NOLA.

I'm sorry, but I can't watch Michael Steele (or any other black Republican) without seeing the stereotyped "house boy" bowing and scraping and saying "Yassuh, boss, we be doin' jus' what you want us to!" The Republican Party abandoned Lincoln's principles long ago (and did you know that the GOP state committee in VA voted against building a statue to Lincoln in their state because his values violated their "values"?), so it's beyond me how any black could still hang onto them.

I went to the link you provided and signed the petition. I've seen the video before, but it was good to watch it again any way.

HA! I just posted Michael STeele making an ass of himself & the GOp on Glenn BEck's show.

Wow, great MardiGras pics!! I went in 1988 and got a shitload of beads, but not for "showing my tits." Rather, I would stand underneath the balconies of crazed drunk dudes on Bourbon street and simply stare at them blankly 'til they got so mad I wasn't doing it they'd throw beads at my head.

Heh!

Thanks for the Prop8 link as well.

Ken Starr is some kinda creepy.

I wish we were going to Mardi Gras -- not this year, alas. I'd like to check it out in Cajun country sometime. A friend from Lafayette told me that it is celebrated much differently there, although it's just as much fun.

Redmond Daily Snap...I've been told that it would be boring...
