Disbar The Torture Lawyers

Tell me this isn't torture. I saw a film clip of that awful man -- our former president -- on Keith Olberman's show last night justify the CIA interrogation "program." He -- the awful man -- actually smirked when he said "program."

Seeing him always gives me these mixed feelings of personal satisfaction and civic shame. He never fooled me: I remember telling a conservative friend before the the war that the Bush Administration did not have anything close to the political skills to pull off rebuilding Iraq and that we would be sorry we had ever heard of the place. I've had people tell me "you were right and I was wrong." Then I think of the destruction he wrought at home and abroad...Why did we do it? Why did we put the leadership of the country in such brute, psychotic hands? As Dr. House might put it, there are answers to everything. But will we as a country ever have the courage to face up to these questions, much less the answers? The Bush presidency was the biggest failure of democracy since Adolf Hitler took power in 1932...

Fingers crossed, it looks like Big Papi's climbing back!

As for the First Chimp, I'm less bothered by him at this point because by and large he's gone back to Crawford and kept his yap shut. But Uncle Dick seems to want to be the Second Coming of G. Gordon Liddy. You do realize that while the whole 9/11 panic was in full swing Cheney was hiding under a mountain outside Carlysle, PA. Yup, they kept the Chimp in full view and rushed Dick "My Guns Are Loaded" Cheney into hiding. Now tell me who was really running the country during those 8 years!

Your post on "I Shot the Law" is the best yet on Just A Song. Keep up the good work!

I agree with Roy, I always said that during the time of 9-11, it made no sense to me to have shrub out in front and Dickless hiding some place, that just didn't make sense to me either.

I honestly believe, once we get this health care passed things will happen. Just look at the poll numbers that are out right now. His numbers are already dropping because the GOPers are out there talking about this torture crap and Dickless is on TeeVee every day with darling daughter.

We have to get health care done. Then the prosecutions, LGBT issues, and everything else will be done. But health care has to get done FIRST.

Annette, I'm with you re health care. If Obama can achieve credible health care reform, the next couple of years will be the political equivalent of LaDanian Tomlinson breaking through the line into the secondary. Obama will be able to wreak havoc on the conservatives and be just about as liberal as he wants to be.

Roy, I was never big on replacing Papi. With who? The most credible name was Nick Johnson, and I couldn't see giving up any decent prospects for him. Even a slumping Papi commanded respect. If he comes back at 80% of what he was, the Sox could run away and hide.

First of all Roy, The Chimp is NOT in Crawford but comfortably living in a mansion in Dallas as the rest of the country swoons and stumbles because of his previous regime. Crawford was just a ruse because he had no "real" home because he's from, um Connecticut, um Houston, (NOT from Midland and that's a damn lie), um Austin, um Dallas????? Who knows? Who cares?
Secondly, let me clarify this, George W Bush was NOT my "President" nor have I EVER referred to him as such (you don't want to know what I referred to him as) in ANY context. It's like the news media referring to a rapist/thief/murderer as a "gentleman"!
Thirdly, definitely Cheney was running the country and everyone knows it...that's what so SCARY!!!!!!!!! Bubba was too stupid to run his own "ranch"!!!
Okay, I'm done............
ps...my word verification is "mines"....verrrrrry pertinent.
