Idiots

Idiots. Senate Democrats are getting cold feet over meaningful health care reform because -- gasp! -- it might be expensive. Here's the thing:

YOU HAVE A 59-40 EDGE IN THE SENATE AND A PRESIDENT WHO WANTS TO DO THIS. HEALTH CARE IS ALREADY EXPENSIVE: THIS COUNTRY ALREADY SPENDS MORE THAN ANYONE ELSE. THAT'S ONE REASON WHY WE NEED A PUBLIC OPTION. ANYWAY, WHY IS THERE $7 TRILLION TO BAIL OUT WALL STREET AND NOTHING TO BAIL OUT THE AMERICAN PEOPLE WHO ARE GETTING STRANGLED BY HEALTH CARE COSTS. THIS OPPORTUNITY MIGHT NEVER COME ALONG AGAIN. AND YOU'RE CHOKING. DON'T BLOW THIS.

Amy Goodman writes that while profiteers pollute health care reform, "62.1% of all bankruptcies in 2007 were medical"...E. J. Dionne says that when it comes to health care, beware of bipartisanship...

Angels and People/Life in New Orleans: Expressive life.

The poor, persecuted Army Corps of Engineers. And, BTW, calk up another win for the blogosphere:
During Hurricane Katrina, NOLA.com’s blogs, forums and other community tools became a primary way for New Orleans residents to communicate – to report their experiences, share their photos, send out cries for rescue and search for missing friends and relatives. The community used these features to inform one another of destruction, or the opening of a grocery store, or the switch flipping electricity on. In the most horrible moments of the deluge, people trapped in attics messaged friends on cell phones, and this information was posted on NOLA This lead to uncounted rescues. Rescue agencies begged NOLA to keep the reports coming – the blogs were guiding their rescue efforts. A mother who lost her children after she collapsed at the Superdome and was evacuated separately was reunited with her kids weeks later. A man clinging to his roof at the height of the storm in Chalmette sent in 83 photos that captured the drowning of St. Bernard Parish...

Conservative judicial activism with an assist from the Obama Administration...

JUST A SONG: Teena Marie's "Deja Vu (I've Been Here Before)", contributed by Clifton Harris. Cliff lives in New Orleans and blogs at Cliff's Crib. He writes about music and living in New Orleans, and perfectly captures the impact of politics and social policy on the daily life of the individual. I’m excited about his contributions to Just A Song and look forward to many more.
I love the song because unlike most ballads it doesn’t take you to a place of lost love or a personal reference to anyone. The lyrics are an escape and it makes me want to take a long ride through the city at night just to enjoy the moonlight. It’s also a great song for sitting by a lake and watching the waves just to get your mind off of reality for a few minutes. I can tell you that living in this post disaster environment there are times where mental escape is a necessity for those of us who try not to give in to the insanity. With a song like Déjà vu you can close your eyes and accomplish that...

Boiling mad!...

FRIDAY'S CHOICE: Billy Joe Shaver goes to "Georgia On A Fast Train" with his late, lamented son Eddy on lead guitar.

If they pass meaningless health care reform they're going to live to regret it. Of course a lot of Americans might not because at the end of the day they still won't be able to afford health insurance so they can stay alive. Damn them all!

They are lying.

It's because so many of them are paid by the health insurance racketeers, including Hillary, Daschle, and even Byron Dorgan -- well not him personally, but his wife is a homongous honcho in the health insurance racket.

There is a lot of truth in what Foxessa is saying. Bob Cesca has a post up about how much they are getting paid by the insurance and drug companies and Bacchaus is getting paid on average $1500 a DAY from insurance alone.. that's enough right there to sell out his constituents.

McCain, John (R-AZ) $251,834
McConnell, Mitch (R-KY) $200,200
Baucus, Max (D-MT) $183,750
Lieberman, Joe (I-CT) $101,400
Chambliss, Saxby (R-GA) $98,600
Collins, Susan (R-ME) $96,500
Kyl, Jon (R-AZ) $90,450
Warner, Mark (D-VA) $89,700
Hatch, Orrin (R-UT) $85,903
Nelson, Ben (D-NE) $83,300
There is the list of the top ten, just from the senate.. and the amounts they have gotten.. that's just from the insurance companies. Drug companies is about the same amount.. so you can figure almost twice that.

There is the link for back up on all of that.. you can find the House numbers there too, leading the pack...Eric Cantor..113,850, Boehner..101,200 ..

Mostly Republicans but still.. it's hurting us all.

F, for the record, I think it's Chris Dodd's wife and not Dorgan's. Although it could be both -- that would be no surprise.

Foxessa said...

Dodd's maybe too, but I know certainly Dorgan's is.

Because of the ND connection I've done a lot of research on him.v She was a lobbyist for the health care racket, but I think when Dorgan started to blow up as a progressive on the national scene she went back to a very high paid, low profite executive position in a corp.

Gee. Both of them. What a surprise.

Hmmm... I came too late to this; everybody's saying what I was gonna say: many in both the Senate and the House are tied up in the insurance industry. They're going to make a concerted effort to hogtie any legislation that constrains the industry in an effort to keep their own campaign finances flowing. We haven't had a government by, for, and of the people in a very long time.

Do any of them appreciate after W'S 10 BILLION A MONTH war how stupid they sound fretting out loud about this being expensive ? It will cost them their jobs if they keep dancing while insurance companies play the tune. Spending money on healthcare makes so much more sense than blowing it on a failed attempt to reshape the mideast and seize oil assets.

I'm not worried about the House or the Republicans in the Senate. It's the cravem Senate Dem's -- the panicky poltroons of the Potomac -- who can break our hearts.

The conservative take on all of this is Rush Limbaugh Ostrich that denies the existence of a problem or the David Brooks Jackal who claims that it's all because patients are too separated from costs. Hey, Dave, if that's the case, how come 60% of bankruptcies are health care related?
