Will Rand Paul Man Up?

A Rand Paul supporter exhibits what the left has called "populist rage" by stepping on a woman's head:

Will Paul condemn the behavior? Will "moderate" teabaggers explain that this has nothing to do with their values and also condemn the behavior? Will Osama bin Laden convert to Judaism?

Ah...not a chance...Rand Paul has never manned up to a thing...

He is the biggest whiner you could ever meet and one very unhappy man!

The number of times that I have met him I came away with the feeling that this is one little man with some serious issues!

The anger these people have is frightening. And the right just exploits it. Probably not going to stop till there's a tragedy of some sort.

This kind of behavior seems to be what U.S.ians at this point want.

So many of us are in their target sights now. Even though we aren't Muslims, gay, immigrants, black or what have you. That we believe these groups are also people as good as we are and deserving of the same rights and opportunities makes us their target groups too.

Are we ready for what's coming soon? How do we get ready anyway?

Love, c.

This is two men humiliating and assaulting a defenseless woman. There's no other construction to put on it. Suppose this had happened to a teabagger woman at appearance by Paul's opponent, and that the two men had been black. Can you imagine the outcry from the right? It would echo from Kentucky to Tasmania.

I'm reading T. R. Reid's The Healing of America. He points out that when it comes to health care, other wealthy nations have made the fundamental moral decision that cost should be a barrier to health care for any of its people.

Here, we can't have that discussion because we even agree on what an American is: There's a huge contingent on the right that believes that anyone not like them is not an American, regardless of citizenship or residency status. In teabagger groupthink, the behavior of those men -- far from uncontrollable misogyny -- is justified because they are fighting off an alien invader.

OMFG. I'm actually physically ill from watching that. I hope someone brings assault charges against that bastard that stomped on her. What a cowardly disgusting thing to do.

It should disgust anyone, but it won't. As I write, there are bloggers and commenters explaining it away. Paul's campaign called it "unfortunate."

This country is rapidly turning into a very ugly landscape & place to live. The many violent & fascistic, brownshirt tactics from the right are extraordinarily chilling. & I'm afraid this is going to get worse before there's any hope of it getting better.

Nope. He went on Fox last night and said:

"Well, we want everybody to be civil. We want this issue -- the campaign to be about issues. I will tell you that when we arrived, there was enormous passion on both sides. It really was something where you walk into a daze of lights flashing, people yelling and screaming, bumping up. And there was a bit of a crowd control problem. And I -- I don't want anybody to be involved, though, in things that aren't civil. I think this should always be about the issues, and is an unusual situation to have so many people so passionate on both sides, jockeying back and forth.

And it wasn't something that I liked or anybody liked about that situation. So I hope in the future it's going to be better."

Nothing about "condemning violence," no "this behavior is unacceptable," just "so I didn't like that much."

The official word today from the Paul camp is that the head stomping was "unfortunate" and that the campaign had "disassociated" itself from the stomper.

Paul and the other teabagger candidates are prisoners of their own mob, fearful that if they say the wrong thing they'll be next to the guillotine.

Proffitt, the man who stomped her head is more than a supporter, he was actually a high ranking member of the Paul team. There is now an arrest warrant for him and they are looking to find the name and location of the 2nd man and charges are pending against him also.

Paul's statement that "both sides" is crap.. There is no both sides in this. Between this incident and the Joe Miller thugs in AK there is nothing on the left to even come close. If there had been, it would be 24/7 non stop outrage from all the media and everyone else. But from the right, and all we get is a brief mention, no condemnation nothing.

To read something truly despicable, go to The Nation's web site and read John Nichol's blog, wherein he gives teabaggers advice on how to win over college students. The blog is dated today, so he can't claim that he didn't know about the head stomping.
